The annual dues are $25 for an individual membership, $40 for a family membership, $10 for a student membership, and $10 for newsletter only. Your first meeting is free. We are pleased to welcome a new conductor, Dieneke Kalsbeek to conduct our May meeting. Dieneke studied recorder at the Conservatory of Music in Utrecht, the Netherlands, with Marion Verbruggen and Heiko ter Schegget. She finished her studies with the “performing Musician” exam. After teaching recorder at different music schools in the Netherlands and Germany, she moved to Germany and taught recorder for ten years at the music school of Buende in North Rhine-Westphalia. She performed with several ancient music chamber ensembles and baroque orchestras throughout Europe. In April 2006, she moved to the United States, where she married and became the mother of Sarah, now 15 months old! Dieneke is a member of the Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra and was its featured soloist in September, 2006. Dieneke has selected this program of Italian and English Renaissance music: Thomas Morley, “I will no more come to thee” The Prelude this month will be presented by “The Claremont Bunch”Mary Bennett, Tish Kimball, Gloria Martin, Gwen Rodman, JoAnn Sorensen, and Lee Waggener. If you play recorder or an early musical instrument, we invite you to join us on the second Friday of each month September through June at 7:30 p.m. Each meeting is preceded by a prelude performed by members at 7:20. We meet at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2400 Canal Street in Orange. Our meetings are playing sessions conducted by professional musicians. All size recorders and all playing levels may attend.
